Completely dead out of the box.
Doesn't work at all. It is literally a "brick", connected or disconnected. This should never go through quality control and worries me about the attention to safety in Vornado. When their customer support team gets back after Thanksgiving (the day before and they're gone) I assume they'll fix it, but the question will be with what difficulty, speed, and professionalism. The weird thing is when I went to fist open the box my first thought was "looks like it was re-glued" as if it was a previous returned or reused box.
