Review on πŸ“Š Enhanced Siglent SDS1104X Oscilloscope: Standard Channels for Precise Measurements by Danny Zapata

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Best performance for the price in 4-channel MSO with 100MHz bandwidth.

I think there are enough positive arguments to recommend this scope over Rigol's 1054Z offering to justify the extra cost. This section's UI is responsive and clean compared to the sluggish input response on Rigols. The waveform grid offers 14 divisions instead of 12. The menu titles do not overlap the waveform display area. The sampling frequency in 4 channels is normal for a 100MHz oscilloscope and mediocre for a 200MHz oscilloscope. However, with two ADCs, you can get 2 channels at 1Gbps speed, which is very good. This is much better than a single Rigol 1000Z series ADC, which drops to 500 MS/s on 2 channels and 250 MS/s on 4 channels. Samplers are decent but nothing special. Beware of the 1X/10X switch, which can easily be toggled accidentally. Sometimes the hook will snag the hat instead of fully squeezing the wire, so be careful to ensure a good connection. The cables are thin and flexible, which is nice. Unlike the Rigol, this scope's remote access capabilities are really useful. The onboard web server refreshes quickly, allowing you to view the signals full screen on your PC at a refresh rate that's really worth it. LAN connection included and very easy to set up. I was able to use my laptop to control the oscilloscope in about 45 seconds after setting it up. The signal noise levels on the inputs are quite moderate, allowing me to see some relatively low voltage signals. MSO capability can be added later, but integration isn't as good as the Rigol MSO1000Z oscilloscopes. However, this is an option that simply cannot be added to the Rigol DS1054Z, even through hacking. So far I'm very happy with this scope and have no problem recommending it to hobbyists or anyone looking for a cheap 4-channel scope.
