Review on Sceptre C355W 3440UN Super Curved Ultrawide 100Hz HD Monitor with Blue Light Filter, Flicker-Free Technology - C355W-3440UN by Cleo Vadlapatla

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great value for an ultrawide but lacks some features.

EDIT: DisplayPort stopped working on the monitor after two months. Still worked great with HDMI and didn't lose updates as the HDMI standard still supports 100Hz, but it was amazing. After a month I switched to HDMI then switched back and it worked again. I'm not sure if he's just tired from work or what. Just something to keep in mind if your display suddenly goes black.*** FIRST REVIEW ***While it's not the monitor with the highest refresh rate or the best color reproduction, it does what I was looking for pretty well. . I bought this while upgrading my PC partly because of my old faulty screen and also because I needed something that could handle SIM racing and gaming decently without breaking the bank. 100Hz - A simple design that looks great on a desk - Multiple inputs for more flexibility Cons: - Screen doesn't fill the bezels completely - Some features are missing - No driver support To fix the bugs in order. The bezels of this monitor are relatively thin. Physically about 3/16 inch on top and sides. Normally this would be excellent, but the actual screen cuts off 1/4 inch on the inside of the bezels, so you end up with actual bezels that have over 1cm of shadows on these. three pages. Unfortunately, there aren't any settings in the menu to adjust the X and Y dimensions either. I've thought about adding two more for the triple ultra-wide setting, but it's giving me a little pause. Speaking of the menu, it has at least one, if not more, options (that I've seen so far) that have nothing to do with the monitor. On the back of the monitor are triangles with red LED accents. There is an option in the menu that implies there are lighting modes that can be changed, but there are no real options for it. Under Back Cover Lighting there is a description of "Changing the appearance and modes of the monitor's LED lighting scheme" but the only options are toggled on and off. The "Volume" option says "Sets the speaker volume". - Except for this model, there are no speakers. Maybe it's for setting the audio output, but if so, then it's poorly worded, and if not, it's another non-existent option. And finally, the lack of monitor support. While it's not specifically marketed as a gaming monitor, the items on the list do a good job of pointing out the gaming capabilities. As a monitor, it is unfortunately installed as "generic PnP monitor" with generic monitor drivers. While this works, it's definitely not ideal for a real monitor. Oddly my last screen was also a Scepter but a 43 inch 4K TV I bought four years ago and at least THAT screen is listed by model name in Device Manager and not something generic. All of this is hard to beat for the price given the reasonable cost compared to other similar screens of this size and curve. There are others for the same price but the Zepter brand at least seems to be better known and since I've had other samples of them I decided to keep them and they serve their purpose pretty well. looks good on the table.
