Review on eSynic 1080P HDMI Audio Extractor: HDMI to HDMI + Optical TOSLINK SPDIF + Analog RCA L/R +3.5mm Jack Stereo Audio Video Splitter Converter by Kevin Mariappan

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Works with some HDMI devices but not others

Update: This works very well with my projector but when I tried it on a TV I found it didn't work for everything. The TV behaves like nothing is connected - black screen and no sound. In fact, out of 5 TVs in my house, none worked. Old 720p - no. Old 1080p - no. 3 years old 1080p - no. The new 1080p is not. New 4k - no. Because of this I had to downgrade my 5 stars to 2, it helped me a lot. Video and audio quality was good. I connected it to my Roku on one side, an HD projector and a Trond Blue Tooth audio device in broadcast mode. Audio is streamed to another Trond Bluetooth device in receive mode connected to your home or car audio system. I watched music videos and movies and they sounded just as good as other sources and didn't seem to be out of sync. However, I made a mistake. was that when I plugged the Roku into the power supply, this device also turned on without plugging in the power cord, so that's how I used it. After about an hour, an overheating message from Roku started flashing on my screen. I unplugged the Roku and let it cool for a few minutes, then plugged it back in and didn't see the device's power cords or the message again. This device includes a USB charging cable but no plug. You'll need one of these, or better yet, one with two USB ports so you can plug your streaming device in the same place. If you also use Trond for wireless audio, it doesn't need a third power plug because it has a long battery life.

Pros
  • Gold plated connector + power button
Cons
  • Slightly torn
