If your spindle is really 5/16 ", try the Emtek latch
My spindles are really square 5/16" (0.312") and this lock won't work because the through hole is a little smaller than 5/16". "(0.308") on my calipers. I took my spindle to a locksmith and tried a whole box of bolts. The only one that worked was Emtek which has a .320" through hole. I hope you can use this information to avoid removing and installing your lock as often as I have!
