If your spindle is really 5/16 ", try the Emtek latch

My spindles are really square 5/16" (0.312") and this lock won't work because the through hole is a little smaller than 5/16". "(0.308") on my calipers. I took my spindle to a locksmith and tried a whole box of bolts. The only one that worked was Emtek which has a .320" through hole. I hope you can use this information to avoid removing and installing your lock as often as I have!

Better than most. - Latches and Screws

Much better quality than most OEM or what you can get at the hardware store for replacements. Because it's made for an offset, no one size fits all. So make sure you order the correct offset. I had to put one of these underneath because I had a slight misalignment, but it's better than loose fasteners that stop working properly after a few years. Quality is better than Quickset, comparable to Schlage but not as good as Baldwin. I believe it is made in China. Why can't we do it well or even…

Will not fit true 5/16 spindle

This is a really solid piece but it will not fit a 5/16 spindle at all. I bought one of these to try on my vintage doorknobs but couldn't get the spindle to go through. The latch is a bit smaller than 5/16 so my spindle won't fit through it and unfortunately there is nothing to enlarge the hole. My guess is that back in the 30's when spindles were made, true 5/16 spindles were just like 2x4s were true 2x4s, which isn't the case today. Very disappointed that it didn't work, he went back to the…

NOT FOR 5/16.9//32 OR 1/4 SPINDLE

I bought 5 of these for some old lever handles that were also bought from Revain. Spindle in lever 5/16. It doesn't fit 5/16. If you look at the size chart you will see that it only fits 9/32 and 1/4 spindles. Interestingly, even the packaging says it's suitable for 5/16, but it's not! When I called the manufacturer, they suggested I buy a 1/4" spindle off Amazon to see if it worked. Stupid! It may work for a while, but over time it will stop working! I can't find 5/16" fasteners anywhere on…

9/32 vs 5/8 good for hardware

The sketch currently shown as the Revain product photo (see my own image) is exactly what I received - spindle 9/32 is the largest , this one fits . The product name ("9/32" and 5/16") is contradictory and incorrect. It worked for me, as reviewers have pointed out, and 9/32 was exactly what I needed. Actually, it was "It's a close 9/32. Using a digital caliper, my spindle showed a rather small 9/32. Still, the spindle had to be hammered into the bushing. It was good, the metal was soft. After a

Will NOT fit 5/16 " shaft

Adding to the comments of others, this is a great well designed clasp that is 100% mislabeled and misclassified. My picture on the box shows clearly that it fits 9/32" and 5/16" square shafts (.28125" and .3125"") smaller than 5/16" and yet, as shown in my second photo, it does not fit in the socket . I spent about an hour using a small file to grind the bushing's surfaces until it finally accepted the stem, which was an hour of my life that I could spend on many other things. I wish I'd taken…
