Simple and Accurate: Aquarium Test Kits

I have decided to test this TESPERT 6-in-1 Aquarium Test Strip Kit for use with my freshwater aquarium. Usage is standard compared to other test strips and the strip is easily compared to the color chart on the bottle. At first I wasn't sure how accurate the reading was so I compared the pH result to another kit I have where you put aquarium water in a test tube, add indicator drops and read the color change. I have almost the same result between both sets. I use a neutral regulator in my tank (to keep the pH close to 7.0) so for further testing I used a strip on water straight from the tap. It showed a higher pH than I expected (my tap water is usually between 7.8 and 8.0) which increased my confidence in the strips. However, one thing that confuses me is why the company didn't include NH3 (ammonia) in the strip. Since this is the first stage of the nitrogen cycle, it is important to me to measure it. The strip even has room for another chemical, so I'm deducting a star from the rating. I also don't realize there are 125 strips in the bottle but it is recommended to be used within 90-100 days. If you're like me and only have one tank, fine. Why not sell the product at 90 a bottle? I assume the strips will still work fine after 100 days, but still. Overall, this is a handy product to have on hand, but you can find better deals that have NH3 on the strip.
