Updated, 10 meters. Not at all what it used to be

I want to say right away that this review is not about those threads about which 15 other reviews have already been written on this site. PNK them. Kirov re-released their floss, loved by many domestic needlewomen. Personally, I rarely used them, preferring, after all, DMS. Yes, it's expensive. But the result is always good. The PNK floss was thinner, less silky, sometimes faded, the shades did not always match from batch to batch. Yes, and all experienced embroiderers know that most designs are developed for the DMS palette. However, all the numerous and undeniable advantages of the European floss faded with the onset of the crisis. Prices in the shops skyrocketed, and the girls, who worked part-time by ordering threads on favorable terms for customers, temporarily stopped taking orders, because they did not know what would happen to the exchange rate by the time of payment. 35 rubles for 1 skein of DMS floss is expensive, but generally tolerable (namely, this price was set a month ago by a well-known hobby hypermarket). But now the price tags have changed and the price for 1 hank tends to 60 rubles. It depends on the region, of course, but still ... such a hobby becomes unbearable for the family budget. For me, updated, 10-meter floss PNK them. Kirov have become a worthy replacement for VHI, so in my review I will not only tell and show them in detail, but also compare the products of these two manufacturers. First, let me tell you about the general impression. For a long time I could not understand why the hand reaches out to DMS with some kind of trepidation, but PNK does not make such an impression. Since I am quite an aesthete, packaging is always important to me. The skinny hank of DMS is wrapped in beautiful glossy labels, like a high-paid model decked out in designer clothes. While the more well-fed PNKs are intercepted by nondescript thin pieces of paper with poor printing. They most often reach the buyer wrinkled and torn, and therefore the impression is appropriate. When I took this photo, it dawned on me that these are not more glossy DMS threads, but they are simply perceived that way thanks to the label. As for color matching. I still have very few hanks of the new PNK floss, but from what I have, I can say that there is no 100% match. Nevertheless, in the palette of domestic threads there are 552 shades against European 447, so I dare to believe that if there is a DMS color card, good lighting and normal color perception, the needlewoman will be able to choose the right shades for most designs. Some shades match perfectly. As you can see in the photo above, for the color DMS No. 326 there is a hank from PNK, the same in color and 10 times cheaper. Another photo of hanks. So to speak, for the crowd :) In my opinion, the hanks are very cute. But you will have to break this idyll, cut off one skein and see how much better the new floss of the domestic plant has become. On the right - a skein of DMS threads, the same number 816 that we saw above. On the left, respectively, updated from the PNK. Upon inspection, it turns out that the manufacturer did not deceive. The new floss has indeed become thicker. I would even say that in terms of thickness it does not differ from the expensive one. The undoubted minus of the European floss is that it is more twisted, and this is clearly seen in the photo. By the way, many needlewomen complain that DMS is prone to twisting during work. This does not happen with PNK floss, I declare with all responsibility. It is impossible to determine by eye what pops up in the course of work. And therefore, for the purity of the experiment, I embroider small rectangles with different shades of floss of one and the other manufacturer. We look and compare. I selected colors as close as possible, from what was found in my bins: Do you see the difference? Well, besides the colors, of course. Personally, I didn't see it. I found fault with this and that, but I did not see it. The crosses are equally plump, equally smooth, equally shiny. Let's see an even larger photo, what if ...? Still, I don't see any significant difference. And with pleasure I decide for myself that it would be nice to buy more of these wonderful threads. However, there is one more test to be done: washing and ironing. Sometimes I read that domestic threads shed. Well, let's check it out! The water is not cold, but not boiling water either, because it would never occur to a single needlewoman to wash her embroidery in hot water. The paint has not faded or faded. Everything is in place, dear embroiderers! Ironing my crosses: I don't just iron, I steam. And here is the result: All the same smooth, even, bright crosses. Neither water, nor heat, nor steam changed anything. Let me summarize for myself and for my readers. All needlewomen know about the advantages of DMS floss, but not all of these advantages will remain significant against the background of the price. For a cost 10 times lower than its European competitor, a hank of floss PNK them. Kirova will offer embroiderers the following: - 10 meters (versus 8 meters from a competitor) - optimal thread thickness - smooth, silky, durable, evenly colored thread, the quality does not differ at all from DMS - a pleasant process of embroidery, the floss does not twist, does not tear and fray - more extensive palette - low price Of course, I will not undertake to advise needlewomen to urgently switch to PNK floss. But I sincerely hope that my comparative analysis will convince my "hobby sisters" to at least try. Firstly, the crisis is the time to cut costs, and secondly, it is a reason to support the domestic manufacturer. I am sure that with our support, the products of PNK them. Kirov can become even better. And at the very end of my review, I want to turn to domestic designers. We have so many talented developers, it turns out! Girls, dear, you set the tone for most needlewomen. Maybe it's worth trying to develop schemes for domestic floss? Thank you all for making this much text! Creative success to all and save money.
