They are still made in USA, good length and well hardened steel pins. The grips are knurled fairly aggressively and are about 1/2 inch in diameter. I don't know why Starrett doesn't bevel the end of this 248 series like they do on every other drum kit they make, but it has a very small bevel with a surface area of about 1/16 inch. I assume they need to be resharpened a little more often. They don't mention it here at Revain, but Starrett says these punches (both steel and brass) are a bit smaller - true, but probably not important to anyone. For those wondering, here's what I measured (both axes seem perfectly round, straight, and accurate. So far): 0.020 inch under (3/8 inch); 0.010" under (5/16"); and about 0.007 inches less for the three smaller sizes. Good stamps, I will buy again and recommend. They are way better than any of the Chinese racquets and it seems almost impossible to find long straight racquets in other remaining American brands. No bag. If you need it, spend a few bucks more and look for a listing that adds "PC" to the model number.
