Review on Dorman 917-241 VVT Solenoid for BMW Models - Engine Variable Valve Timing Solution by Geoff Foster

Good temporary solution

I won't lie, the rumor of 1/4 price solenoids is really exciting and disturbing at the same time. I thought as this is a major supply and I needed to find replacements for my BMW e90 solenoids (never changed) I thought "I might as well use this and see how long I can last". just a couple of solenoids that actually worked without immediately going into limp mode, or didn't work at all. And for a while my car actually ran better than before! Yes, and the oil on the car was changed as recommended and there were no problems. However, I decided to go to the coast (230 km round trip) and started to idle. My car would normally idle at 600rpm, but sometimes it just wanted to jump to 450rpm for a second and make the car rumble like hell before going back to 600. I wouldn't say it's a permanent fix, more of a quick fix. return home in a bad situation until you take the OEM. I ended up having to send the old ones back because I couldn't afford the new ones yet and the old ones weren't that bad, so be careful!
