I had to use something to extend from the displayport of the graphics card to the monitor (Displayport or VGA) over 100ft. I was only able to get this to work using a DisplayPort to HDMI cable from the computer to the power strip, and then using ONLY an HDMI to VGA adapter and a VGA cable. There seems to be something wrong with cable standards that don't allow switching from HDMI output to DisplayPort input. After all this, I was ONLY able to get my monitor to work at 1366x768. So it works. But just like that.
