Review on Tamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 Lens for Nikon DSLR Cameras by Diane Collins

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Fantastic value for camera lenses

I am very happy with this lens. The lens is fairly sharp and the autofocus is fast but sometimes misses. I would recommend using the plug-in console along with the lens. The lens was front-focusing at medium and long distances. After adjustment with the console, the lens works fantastic. The vibration cancellation is decent, but I prefer Nikon's VR. Setting stabilization priority in the viewfinder can result in blurry images, and setting recording priority makes it difficult to take pictures. When shooting handheld with a crop sensor, I found that the VC becomes ineffective at around 400mm. This lens is also quite heavy. I would not recommend handheld photography for long periods of time. Overall, given the price, this lens is hard to beat.

Pros
  • Hands free operation
Cons
  • No auto mode
