Review on πŸ”— Mota Performance Universal Throttle Cable Assembly - 36" Braided Stainless Steel by Jump Robinson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Not really designed for EFI throttle bodies but slightly modified and working

Use this cable to connect my 85 Supra's gas pedal to a 93 Lexus 1UZ-FE throttle body. I bought a set of different grommets (Dorman 3336 Cable Lock Set 6pc, bought from O'Reillys but found here on Revain) and found that the smallest grommets fit the Aisin throttle body perfectly. Cut the cable and body with a dremel cutter. Wheels with no problems, I had to drill some holes at the top to insert a larger stainless steel cable, also cut the original cable and use bits of plastic and rubber at the end of the gas pedal to attach the new cable. I used an aluminum grommet with a cotter pin, but simply cut two tabs from that piece of aluminum to make a round piece that will hold the end of the cable, and glued (in order) the rubber bumper and plastic clip to the flat surface. Part of the aluminum case. Works like clockwork! The throttle cable is smooth and doesn't tangle at all. I had to get creative with the parts that attach to the fire wall, used the stock bracket, welded a washer to secure that cable, assembled everything and now it looks pretty standard like it came out of the Factory. I hope he survives. although to be honest I'm a little wary of the tip slipping off when I hit the gas pedal, which I think will be fairly common! Time will tell, just wish there was a better way to attach the cable to the end of the throttle body.
