Review on πŸ”Œ GM OEM 15016745 Multi-Purpose Relay | Genuine Parts for Enhanced Performance by Daniel Jackson

My headlights are working again

Despite being an annoyingly expensive piece of plastic/electronic innards, my headlights stopped dimming intermittently at night. A small study found that some GM daytime running lights work by turning on the low beams at 70% output when the car's light sensor reports it's daytime. This component manages the 70% share and can probably only be explained by an electrical engineer. As a result, this relay is larger than a conventional relay; In fact, it runs every second as long as your computer is running (and I think even harder during the day when it has to be turned on and off so many times per second) and is therefore prone to crashes. When I first opened up the underhood fuse box to find out what was going on, I found that this relay had already been replaced once in the 30,000 miles of the car's life before I owned it (at the time of replacement that was booted car). up to 80,000). These things don't have a fantastic lifespan, but this was the cheapest I could find anywhere. I have a feeling GM would have done a better job by simply throwing in a couple of dedicated low wattage DRLs and eliminating the complexity of that specialized and expensive relay, but that's neither. If your headlights inexplicably go out at night (and scare you to death on the freeway) and then turn back on by themselves after a while, that's probably your part.
