Let me first say that my package was very well bubble wrapped and not torn. It seems that the carrier has listened to their customers and tried to improve the packaging. Great set for beginners - lots of colors especially blues, fall and neutrals. Lots of greens, a handful of purples and pinks. Only once white, once really red, once black. The quality of the threads is good at first glance. Maybe just a little less shiny than DMC. The colors are sorted randomly, so I resorted to color. Spools of thread are provided for efficient storage in the space provided. It's a small, somewhat flexible case, where the buttons connecting each layer might eventually break, but it snaps firmly in place. It has flexible baffles on the inside which are a bit finicky but not bad. All the tools provided are sufficient and it saves a lot by not having to buy them separately. There are three packs of needles that look pretty useful - the needles aren't cheap so I liked these. The thread trimmer I have is a bit off balance with the blade but I bet it was just a fall. They still cut well. I think it's definitely worth the money for a beginner - lots of nice threads and useful tools and a case.
