Review on Overdrive Mounted Standard Electric Bicycles by Matt Watson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Looks like a good frame but with some flaws

I received the frame 4 days late but everything is fine. The UPS may be delayed. Box opened, all parts are in stock. I started assembling following a well-written guide and found the first problem. There is a keyed lock that secures the bike rack to the rear hitch. This is a nice feature of the carrier and one of the reasons it costs over $200. The lock that came with the bike did not fit the supplied bolt and would not turn (the bolt was 1/16 inch too long). At that point I might have had to call the company and get a replacement lock, bolt, or both, but being there I was able to identify the problem and sharpen the point of the bolt to fit the lock and the key turned . Obviously, most people couldn't. I assembled the rest with the holder but when I went to put my e-bike on the holder I realized how heavy it was. It's not the wearer's fault, but I really struggled to get it on the mount. Only use one of the two mounts. If you don't use the outer bracket and leave the inner bracket empty, it will be difficult to lift the bike into the inner slot. I then attempted to remove the mount when not in use. Now I encounter another problem. To remove the trunk, I had to get under the car and unscrew the clutch lock, remove the bolt with a socket wrench, get up and take the carrier to the storage yard. God it's hard. 40 pounds (like a sack of grain). I am 72 years old and it took me a lot of effort to move it. I have used the stretcher twice and so far so good. I was able to maneuver my only e-bike on the inside rack after removing the outside rack, but be warned. The bracket is not easy to carry, it is very heavy, you may need to get under the car to attach and detach it from the bumper, and if the clutch lock does not turn, be prepared to contact the company for a replacement to call
