Unreal happiness! in parts

Bought a Monroe Quick Strut assembly for my Grand Am two years ago. It is easy to install the entire unit. A few days ago I hit a very small bump while riding and heard something clicking in the front of the driver. The car still drove fine the rest of the way home. I jacked it up, took off the wheel and looked around. I noticed that this part, the top bracket of the rack, had a crack. Completely broken in two. Since the entire Monroe quick release strut assembly was only replaced two years ago, I just wanted to replace the broken part. Easy enough to replace if you have a spring compressor, which I did, but that part (the bottom part that touches the coil spring) should NOT be plastic (whatever it is, it's still more or less plastic) . You have spring bearing tension on this part all the time, and it's plastic. and it cracked my goodness i checked the other side of the car and before it broke in two. ripped so I replaced both sides. Monroe offers a warranty, but to my knowledge you must send them the failed racks for evaluation and possible warranty replacement. I couldn't afford to shut down my car for a period of time (probably two or three weeks) during the shipping and evaluation period. Unfortunately, my car is now drivable again. but I spent $77.18 that I should never have earned. spend, not to mention 3 hours in the garage removing racks, taking them apart, replacing that part, putting them back together and reinstalling them. I will most likely replace this part in a year or two.
