Update: Still preventing accidents after three years. Easy to use and clean. I like it! I bought this more or less on a whim - another paper filter somehow managed to make its way into our coffee maker and spilled the grounds into the coffee and onto my freshly washed counter. Also, I'm tired of pulling paper filters out of their packaging and invoking creepy gods to make them sit up straight. I'm glad I bought this item. Since then, there has not been a single incident involving coffee grounds. User incompetence was certainly one of the problems with the old paper filters, but I don't seem to be getting any better at using them, so I'm awfully happy that this filter has almost eliminated the possibility of user error (e.g. could work it out, maybe when someone is really, really low in caffeine?). In addition, paper filters constantly drain environmental and household resources, and this filter eliminates these problems. This filter does a great job of removing the coffee grounds from the finished coffee while retaining the full flavor. A small latch at the top makes it easy to pull out of the car. The fit in our coffee maker (an older Sunbeam model) is spot on; Our machine is smaller, so larger machines may need a larger filter basket. However, I suspect this is a feature of the entire class of reusable filters, not just this particular model. So far I am completely satisfied with this filter.
