Review on Razor A5 Kick Scooter: Unleash the Power with Air, DLX, & Prime Models by Daniel Mandal

Rubber Terrible

I am very disappointed with this scooter. I've been a lifelong razor fanatic and also have a Razor A5 Lux. I thought it would be a great replacement for the Lux as I drive a few miles a day and the air tires would make for a smoother ride. Handles - The frame of the scooter is very strong! Cons: - While the pneumatic wheels made the ride smoother when cruising over uneven pavement or tarmac, they also resulted in a significantly slower ride - this scooter takes a lot more power to push and will slide maybe 1/3 of the way per stroke. I enjoyed the ride enough to be forgiven for the difference in speed, but I had a few other issues with this scooter. The wheels didn't roll. The main flaw is the inability to test right out of the box. - The inflation bar on the wheels is at a terrible angle making it extremely difficult to attach the air pump. I have found that using a hand pump is not feasible for a number of reasons: the pump mount on the stem needs to be at the perfect angle to actually inflate the tire; any deviation from this ideal angle, and the tire will inflate instead. In addition, it was not possible to inflate the tires to the required 60 psi with a hand pump. Expect to need a stationary bike pump to inflate the tires. - The latch to fold/unfold the scooter is SUPER RIGID. I consider myself to be quite a strong, mature woman, and it's been awfully hard for me to blossom and flourish. I can't imagine a child being able to operate a machine. - The platform is very low! I have driven the A5 Lux and A5 Air on the same pavement and there were many places (e.g. uneven pavement or driveways) where the A5 Air scraped the pavement and the A5 Lux passed. Scratching doesn't seem like much, but if you're driving at full speed and your scooter suddenly starts to scratch, you could easily fall. - The brake must be pressed very hard to really slow down or stop the scooter. Going down the hill a bit, I had to put almost all of my weight on the rear brake to stop. This suction cup is heavy and bulky compared to the A5 Lux. Possibly the greatest disadvantage of all - THE TIRES EXPLODE LESS THAN 4 MILES IN TRIPLE. . This scooter was advertised for grass, off-road, the perfect commuter scooter, but in less than 4 miles (1 daily ride) the tires blew holes and quickly deflated when re-inflated. Frame, but the tires aren't flexible enough to make it a working "commuter scooter".

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • A bit torn

Daniel Mandal is good. But as always.
