Oil pastel set for beginners. The set contains 36 oil crayons and 2 plastic crayons. Each pastel is wrapped in paper. The set is packaged in a plastic storage tray and comes in a cardboard box that can be used for storage. The set was made and labeled for China (names of pastel shades are given in Chinese only). I think this set is great for getting to know pastel colors. I take painting classes for beginners and learn to draw. I saw some pastel drawings my teacher made and I thought it would be interesting to try pastel myself. This set is exactly what I needed - it's nothing fancy or expensive but the pastel works really well and the pastel coasters are a real bonus. I love working with pastels on black paper, it's a lot of fun. I find the color combination in this set to be quite vibrant. There are many yellow, orange and pink flowers. But there are 6 other greens that I use very often. I think if I want to try some blending effects I need to move on to softer pastels, but they're good to start with until I get pastels to hold on to and use. Overall, this is a good pastel starter kit for beginners and kids.
