Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Optimize Your Engine's Performance with ARES 71502 Spill Proof Coolant Filling Kit: Eliminate Air Pockets and Banish Squeaky Belts! by Dan Brickley

Inexpensive, ingenious solution for the tedious task of filling and bleeding car radiators.

I had an overhaul on my 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan with a coolant drain. I saw one of these in a YouTube video and was determined to get it. In the past I've spent hours releasing trapped air, watering, driving, opening a brew pressure fountain from a radiator cap, etc. To the uninitiated, this device is essentially a funnel with a piston valve and a whole series of caps and a funnel behind below. spouts. The caps replace the radiator cap and are only intended to be gripped and installed over the radiator fill. It is not designed for pressure like a proper radiator cap, so in some cases the fit may not be very good. On the Dodge, my best fitting cap worked great until I hit a funnel. You choose which cap fits best. Each lid has a hole for attaching a funnel or extension. You just need to assemble a sturdy funnel to fit the lid and then squeeze everything tightly. When you first fill the radiator, pull the plunger valve up to open the funnel drain and fill it with delicious, clean coolant. When the radiator is full, leave the funnel about half full with coolant. Also add coolant to the expansion tank. Start the car, turn on all heaters to maximum heat and fan speed, then get out and watch the funnel closely. As air is forced out of the system, you will see and hear bubbles coming out of the excess liquid you left in the funnel. ; Any air bubble is replaced with coolant. As your car draws in more and more fresh coolant, keep the funnel half full. If your vehicle has an exhaust valve, activate it to release trapped air and be careful not to spill coolant on the fan belt or pulleys. The challenge here is getting the car up to operating temperature for the thermostat to open, allowing fresh coolant to complete the circuit and force air out of the system. Air trapped in the system will restrict coolant flow and prevent the system from being properly pressurized. If the system is not properly pressurized, the refrigerant will not reach its extended boiling point, meaning excess heat will not be removed from the system. I don't recommend stepping on the gas to speed up the process as air bubbles can fly through without leaving the funnel. After 30 minutes of idling at operating temperature, touch the largest radiator assembly (return hose) to ensure it is hot to the touch. Also check the heat. If these items are unusually cool or cold, turn off the device for 10 minutes. As the cooling system cools down, more liquid will drain from it. Close the piston, let the coolant stand at 1/3 and start the engine. This time the system builds up some pressure and the air, along with some of the old coolant, squirts up through the straw in the center of the piston into the funnel. If the funnel is more than half full with dirty coolant, shut down the vehicle and drain into an appropriate container for disposal. You can alternate p, starvation open, and piston closed until you get air. If the dashboard temperature is normal and the cabin head is working properly, replace the funnel with a properly working radiator cap. Make sure the reservoir is filled with fresh coolant to the Mac mark. Watch the temperature for the first 150-200 miles. The radiator will continue to self-level as it cools. With a completely cold engine, periodically open the radiator cap and add a small amount of coolant to prime the system. Fill the container as needed, but do not overfill. This funnel is a game changer if used carefully.
