EDIT (UPDATE): I've used this several times and have one major downside. the screen and the buttons are covered by the hand when measuring the temperature and are therefore often difficult to read. It would be much better if at least the display was at the top. This also applies to "right-handed" and I am "left-handed". I'm still leaving it at a 5 star rating because of the price and how fast it works. It's still a lot. A handy kitchen thermometer for the price. I have had to replace a 25 year old William Sonoma digital thermometer since it was first introduced. But this time I really didn't want to spend a fortune. I found it for less than $10 and decided to give it a try. So far it's working great! One of the reasons I chose this thermometer is that it has a thinner tip which I wanted for fish and other thin cuts of meat. Its tip is slightly thicker than a round wooden toothpick, making it ideal for thinner cuts of meat. It's a bit more bitter than I thought it would be, but it's comfortable to hold and light enough to store. posted a picture of it alongside a Costco sized water bottle and ballpoint pen just to give you an idea of the size and diameter of the "tip".
