Great for covering rust areas

I love this stuff. I used it for our old outdoor railings on our steps which have rust spots. I used Rustoleum flat black last time but it didn't last or really look good. I thought I would try this hammered metal look. I love it! I really hides the rust spots and pitting. It is thick so it goes on really well and only needed one coat (they were already black though). It gives a cool shimmer in the sunlight as well. I almost looks like my railing were supposed to be like that rather than trying

Pros
  • ‎Stops Rust Hammered Brush On Paint
Cons
  • Could crack or peel over time

On the Fence best in my review

I really want to like this product, I love the color and texture. It's very thick and forgiving as far as surface prep goes. It covers a lot of imperfections of the surface. One huge problem is how to apply it. Brush , roll or spray. I tried them all and got terrible to bad results.Bushing does not result in desired texture as you can see the brush strokes.Rolling is not good either. The texture some in nice and uniform but you can see "vacuum" style lines in the paint, it does slightly fade as…

Pros
  • ‎1-Quart Rust Preventative Paint
Cons
  • Can be challenging to apply evenly

Kitchen counter makeover

I used this to update my kitchen counters until I can buy new ones. I did 1 coat primer, 3 thick coats of the hammered copper paint and 3 coats of a high gloss urethane suitable for countertops from Lowe's. It looks amazing! Everyone who comes over loves it and asks if Its copper. It has a silky glass like feeling with a little bit of a textured feel. Its really important to do thick coats for the hammered texture to come out right. So far it's held up well with medium use of the counters. Its…

Worked great for fixing up our stairs

When we got our house, the previous owner had painted the stair railing, but I guess he got tired or lazy because he stopped partway up and so we had 2 or 3 different colors on our stairs (and all badly painted, so there were drip marks and all kinds of other unsightly things). So we decided to paint the stair railings, and I chose this paint because of the good reviews. I also thought that the hammered finish would cover up the unsightly texture underneath. We did a light sanding and cleaned…

Love the beautiful hammered copper look!

I absolutely love the look of this hammered copper! I have crumby laminate counters from 1998 and wanted to give my kitchen a big makeover until we can eventually gut the whole thing one day. I included a before and after. Kitchen is almost done. Doing three layers of this and then a clear gloss sealant on top. So far, holding up good on my test piece.(included picture) Definitely need to use mineral spirits for clean up immediately which is typical for these types of paints. TIP: You need to…

Pros
  • Great for the metal railing on my front porch. Can always count on Rustoleum.
Cons
  • Can be difficult to clean up if spills occur

Like the results but wish it wasn’t oil based

To be fair, I’ve not painted much with an oil based paint, and it’s a very different feel. At first I was leery of how it was going to turn out. I painted a book case. It actually turned out better than I expected (when I first started painting.). It’s definitely not fit every surface. The softer back of a bookcase is much porous and would take a lot more effort, time, and paint. You probably need this consistency to get these results, but it’s not the easiest paint to use. That being said I like

Pros
  • Paint & Primer
Cons
  • Can be messy to work with

I put a wire brush wheel in my drill to hit the really rusty spots, washed with bleach to kill the mildew, let dry, then bought a $50 HVLP sprayer, stirred well, spread out plastic on my garage floor, waited for a low humidity day per label and sprayed all 3 sets of my old rusty wrought iron patio furniture (one set brown, one black, one green), which I haven't painted in 15 years. Per the Rustoleum directions on YouTube, I first sprayed with "regular" Rustoleum (anodized brown) using multiple…

Thick and sticky oil based paint. Great for covering rotiron.

Rust Oleum hammered black in my opinion is the best choice for painting rotiron. After using cheap spray paint, And only having it last about a month before rusting. I chose hammered black. I’ve painted the rotor on with this three times in 30 years. It’s oil base,Sticky and smelly. I wear 2 surgical gloves underneath a cloth glove and wipe the paint on this way. Because using a roller and a brush is a mess with this thick, sticky paint. That’s what I love about it. It covers rust for 10 years.

Pros
  • ‎Oil
Cons
  • Can be too shiny for some applications

Good quality on my review.

I used it to repaint exterior metal fence. Previously, I used a different brand, which indicates for outdoor use. However, the paint peeled off after 2 months, even I thoroughly cleaned the fence prior to application. This newly ordered paint is different. It stayed on the metal surface firmly through the cold Winter. The paint really does the job even it's a bit expensive. Very worth the money.

Pros
  • Oil-based formula provides a durable protective coating with excellent rust prevention
Cons
  • Can be more difficult to touch up than other finishes
