This gadget does exactly what it says on the tin. I was able to plug it into my MacBook Pro and connect the power cord, connect an external DVD drive via USB, and hook it up to a high-definition 4K TV with an HDMI cable. Since my DVD drive plays Region 2 DVDs, I was able to watch the entire UK Monsignor Renard DVD on my big screen TV. It was a real treat, as only the UK releases contain the first hour of this series, without which the rest becomes unbearably obscure. The only problem is that once the device was plugged in, everything on my computer screen shrank to the point where it was really hard to read anything. But all I had to do was expand the image to full screen and press play so it's not scary. I leave it plugged into my computer all the time because Apple in their endless folly only provided 2 Thunderbolt ports on the MacBook Pro, which means you'll have to buy some sort of adapter if you're using a USB device or more than one connect if you also want to connect the power cord. This unit has all the outlets I need and they all work.
