A good starter kit but depends on what you're looking for (DEEP LOOK)

Colored pencils are a very broad field of art. Pencils come in different types and qualities. Let's see how true that is. A LITTLE ABOUT ME Before I continue, I would like to tell you about my experiences with colored pencils. I have a large collection of colored pencils and my goal is to create realistic art that looks like what you see in a painting. I like to draw in the style of Karen Hull (search if you haven't heard of her), so I really like good pencils. For drawing, I don't mind using intermediate to beginner pencils just to get an idea of color combinations or other quick sketches of things. WHAT ARE THESE PENCILS FOR? These pencils come in a tin and they're really well spent. The pencils are black with silver lettering and the ends are colored to give a very good idea of the color of the lead in the pencil. Inside is a leaflet inviting you to use the company's products and a lightweight foam sheet to protect the pens from damage until purchase and first opening. COLOR SELECTION See attached photo. HARDNESS? They are not too smooth on paper, but not so hard that they dent the paper either. They aren't too scratchy like some pencils, although some colors were more difficult to use than others. QUALITY PENCILS? That's what I call good quality for beginners. They're not as basic as the crayons you buy in your school basket, like Roseart or Crayola, but they're nowhere near as good as Prismacolor, Derwent, or Lyra. They are nowhere near as good as really high quality pens like Caran D'Ache, Faber Castell or High Quality Derwent. WHAT MAY THEY BE SUITABLE FOR? This set is great for practice. You can learn how to mix colors. You can use them in coloring pages. They allow you to examine the pressure and intensity of the color. You can also use them for easy quick sketches if you want to pack a set when traveling - in case they break you won't feel like breaking your $7 each pencil. A set of pencils is a good start. They're a level up from the classroom and are great for practice, study, and quick sketches. MY RATING IS FIVE STARS for beginners, THREE STARS for artists who want to use it seriously. After averaging this, I received FOUR STARS as my rating. Everyone is looking for something different, so it all depends on what you are looking for and how you can fill the need for colored pencils.

Pros
  • Strong, fine-tipped leads and break-resistant
Cons
