The bane of every Power PC user is the need for more than the two or three USB ports that laptops have and, horror of horrors, not enough power to send them all operate devices to which I am connected. PC or hub. Powered hubs are a blessing as they have enough power to run external devices, charge batteries while maintaining a constant flow of power to each port. reliable helper in my current PC setup. I needed power to charge devices like cell phones. I even needed power to run my 2.5" external hard drive (and I didn't want some cheap Chinese crap that could fry my hard drive), I needed LOTS OF PORTS and LOTS OF POWER. First of all I needed to control the power supply stably and correctly because I am very concerned that cheap electronics will fry memory cards and hard drives connected to this powered hub. With this hub I feel safe and my data is safe and I don't run the risk of getting corrupted. As a bonus, this hub has four smart charging ports. I use these ports to charge my cell phones. IMO the ports and this hub work just like the fast chargers on my Samsung flagship phone. I'm very happy with the hub's performance in this regard. Yes, it costs a little more than that fake Chinese crap you can buy for $10. But the old adage "you get what you pay for" applies to this device.
