Review on πŸ–¨οΈ KODAK PLA Plus Filament for Additive Manufacturing: Advanced 3D Printer Materials by Ross Decoteau

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Overpriced, low quality PLA+, terrible packaging. I will never buy Kodak filament again.

Advantages:1. Prints well enough. No major issues with normal printing, printing is the same as most other PLA and PLA+ (tested on 215 direct drive extruder and 60 bed)2. The color is beautiful as shown on the Revain product page. Cons: 1st prize. You only get 750g per 1kg more than others. Priced like some exotic filaments, but it's just low quality PLA. Don't be fooled by the premium for branded thread, there are far better and cheaper alternatives.2. Extremely brittle. Doesn't bend, just snaps into place. A real problem with some larger prints and printer setups and when trying to secure the end through the side holes of the storage spool3. Wavy. The thread on the spool is not straight. It has weird waves. May cause extrusion problems on smaller parts and at higher speeds. In over 8 years of printing experience I have never seen this before with any filament, even the cheapest brands. Strange.4. Bad bridge. Tested multiple temperatures and cooling settings, material just doesn't stick well. Bridges are even worse than PETG.5. Comes with a resealable ziplock bag, but the bag doesn't close properly. Useless.6. Package. Their packaging box is flimsy and flimsy, using an odd sleeve-like insert. This seems like a minor issue, but when you need to save and manage a lot of threads, it's a quaint moment.
