Mounted on a Ryobi BT3000 table saw

Since the Ryobi BT3000 desktop power switch was discontinued, there have been several options to replace the difficult-to-control current switch. It can be used on both a 120v machine and a 240v machine and I have found with a multimeter continuity test that the switching is between the top and bottom blades and for my 120v Machine can use either the left pair or the right one. I made two pieces of 2.25" x 3.25" sheet metal, one for the outside and one for the inside, to completely cover the rectangular hole that the original switch was in. Each required a rectangular cutout to allow the switch housing to protrude from the back of the new switch. Once the cutout was made, holes were drilled for the (4) #8 mounting screws that would be used to attach the new switch. The lack of fancy sheet metal making the lids and mounting the switch was a grizzly bear associated with real sweat and a bit of real blood. Unloading the four corners of the hole in the saw table with a round file will help when installing the screws as the screws will barely go into the hole in the saw table. WARNING: When using this switch, DO NOT disassemble the module which includes the wiring and socket, this will also require reassembly. Simply disassemble the junction box and remove the spade terminals from the bottom of the old unit's actual switch, then slide them onto the male spade terminals of the top and bottom pair of the new switch.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
