Review on KX 06-250-10-GREEN Pb1 Carbon Block Filters - Chlorine Taste, Odor & VOC Reduction, Lead & Cyst Removal - KX MatriKX Powered by GREENBLOCK - Replaces 06-250-125-975 by Misty Caldwell

Just tried this latest (and only) kx matrikx pb1 filter replacement. This thing is different from the original pb1 it replaced. I don't care where it's made. First replacement a few years ago, this one is made in the USA with a plastic mesh over the filter. 2nd replacement in 2016, still made in USA but slightly cheaper (no plastic grille). The latest version (now September 2018) is made in India. All previous PB1 filters behaved like Brita filters when new. Gives blackish water due to carbon. After a little rinsing, everything calms down quickly. This is not the case with this latest version! White/creamy water from the start. Half a day has passed and the water it filters is still white! My wife accidentally tasted it and said it tasted like something fishy. I'll wait for the manufacturer to confirm the issue in one form or another before trying again. I used it as the last stage filter in my reverse osmosis system. This is the only filter I changed, so it's definitely causing the problems.
