I use this to log device debugging results in the field so I don't have to be present when data is collected. I only have two minor issues that users should be aware of. Firstly, recording fails to start after being turned on for a little over 1 second. Second, it doesn't seem to be able to support a stable 115200 baud rate. I think this is affected by the speed of the SD card; but have not used any cards that can do the full 115200 baud. Otherwise it's pretty much plug and play as long as you have a TTL level serial connection. The Sparkfun version appears to be flashed safely to be run from the shell. Not that I've read about versions from other vendors.
