Review on Versatile Stainless Steel Spider Strainer Skimmer Ladle Set - Ideal for Cooking, Frying, Pasta Straining & Food Preparation by Lisa Walker

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The handle isn't stainless steel - they're plastic, but everything else is metal.

Well I just got them today and the 3 stars for 'easy maintenance' are given because they are typical of all buckets of this type - they can be tricky but they are not shaded , so so and should be easier. I think it will depend on what you use them for. They seem strong enough not to bend etc and should be fine for picking up fried food. However, higher ratings for durability etc. were to come later. If anything changes I will upgrade, especially in terms of strength (up or down). The only thing that disappointed me were the handles. objects made of metal, probably stainless steel; however, the end of the handle is made of metal-colored plastic. As soon as I took them out of the plastic and heard them click together and felt the grip, it wasn't stainless steel or metal. You know, that old "you get what you pay for" but since they are made in China I thought maybe that's why the price is lower than the best brands we have here or in France, Germany etc. manufacture, and ooo price for 3-4+. What really confuses me, and this is my first set of frying ladles, is that I'd like to see a heat resistant handle - for the handle. And for my hands. You're submerging in 350-400F hot oil and where the handles don't meet the oil it's still pretty close. But if something is advertised as 304 stainless steel and no other material is mentioned, I expect it to be 100% stainless steel. I even went back and read the description to make sure I had missed this important detail. I don't fry very often and have other strainers etc that I use for other foods like boiled eggs, strawberries or other fruits and pasta. I got this for roasting. Let's see. But I wanted people not to be surprised that the handles are stainless steel, just colored plastic.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad but...
