This confused me and made me think that the switch can be installed anywhere and the instructions depend on that. no The instructions show how to rewire a regular old fashioned 3 position switch on the line side. It is very important. You need to rewire this switch as shown in the picture. Then the standard installation of a new WiFi switch on the load side will do if you have a neutral wire. You will also need to rewire the original switch that you are not replacing. Then it works without WLAN or via app, voice control (Alexa) etc.
