I have a 2000 Ford F250 Superduty 7.3 with PowerStroke 7.3 engine and manual transmission. The difference between the original OEM starter and the DB Electrical 410-52057 starter was significant. Not very similar, but what a difference in the beginning! Before I made the switch, I had to turn on the glow plugs and key on 2-3 times on a warm day to get the truck to start. I knew my batteries were fine so I decided to try a new starter. Due to the different shape of the new DB starter (a bit longer) I had to shorten the crossbar a bit and I was able to mount it. Used a grinding wheel on an air sander to cut a strip about 4" long and 1/2" deep from the edge of the crossbar. There is still a lot of metal left on the cross member. Be sure to connect the electrical connections BEFORE installing the starter. To do this I had to hold the starter with my knee while a Phillips screwdriver for the signal wire and a wrench for the battery wire nut were nearby. wires. In addition, only TWO of the THREE original screws had to be used for assembly, as the new starter only had two mounting holes. Perfectly assembled and this truck has never started so well! One turn of the key and it spins very quickly and ignites in about a second. IMPRESSIVE!
