Like all those bits that are made for very tough stuff, they will wear out over time. Wax is actually amazingly useful and this brand doesn't wear out as quickly as others. I refuse to invest in expensive ones because they eventually wear out. I use them to poke holes in ceramic and concrete pots (IMHO there are never enough holes) and I've probably made over 15 holes with one and can still use it. . I don't mean cheap planters either, good thick pottery and some very thick cement, even coated pottery is no problem. It takes time and patience and some getting used to, but I can poke a hole in a 3/5 inch ceramic pot in under 10 minutes. If that seems like a lot, these things don't work that way. I use a small but powerful cordless drill for its size. One clue is that sometimes you increase skin friction by moving more slowly. Some people say you should take everything slow, and sometimes slow is definitely faster (it sounds weird, but it's true), and sometimes it's not. If it doesn't, I have the best luck changing the speed. Coated ceramic parts (inner and outer surfaces) appreciate speed: once you have reached the clay material, even slower grinders can easily get through. In general, there are "better" options, but you need to replace them with others. regular use anyway so two at this price is actually better than buying a $30-60 bit which will last a little longer. Also, use water. A small spray bottle or spray bottle (or a damp paper towel or sponge that you squeeze) will greatly extend its life. The combination of heat and friction (use without water) wears out particularly quickly, making drilling slower and less accurate in my experience. .Please click "Helpful" if you found this review informative or helpful.
