Review on πŸ’» High-Speed 7-Port USB 2.0 Hub with ON/OFF Sharing Switch for PC Laptop (689421) by Jeff Figueroa

Good little network product center

I installed two of these yesterday. They are compact and the included cable is long enough for most applications. I placed one on the back of my desktop PC for the keyboard, mouse and Freeagent dock (which has two USB ports for some reason). The other port is on a small stand at the other end of my computer desk (via a 5ft USB extension cable) where two USB sticks, the NAS drive, my network switch and "modem" live. Two USB drives and the next scanner are connected to this port. So I have enough space to plug in any external USB drive. At the same time, PC ports are free for things like flash drives, GPS, iPods, cameras, etc. When facing you, the blue lights shine a little brighter. I'm sure some tape will fix it - if not tape then air ducts will. I have not and do not intend to connect anything to them that requires power, so the lack of an AC adapter is a space-saving convenience. The buttons to toggle individual ports on and off are a bit like a toilet attached to a bike - totally unnecessary for my use. I think I read somewhere that some reviewers thought USB ports should be used in series. I have no problem using ports on both ends with empty and disabled ports in the middle of the hub. They work well if they last long that would be another good thing as I pretty much swiped them for the price they charged me!

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Sad packaging
