I always buy the same bulbs for my reptile tank. The first of the four bulbs I put in the lamp was an odd color - much lighter, almost salmon, than the normal red. It was also much less hot than regular incandescent bulbs. I didn't care since it's summer and my critters would be fine without a really hot lamp right now. However, the lightbulb has proven to be very short-lived! This lasted less than 7 weeks while they usually last many months. Very disappointing. I put the second one in and it's redder than the first one. Let's see how long it lasts this time.
