I haven't had a chance to use it as a bed extension, only as a bed divider so nothing rolls around. It is light and makes a robust impression. For 2018 F150 owners you may want to get a lever screw instead of the included metal screw for the hinge mount on each side of the bed. The Ford has a factory hole right where the bottom bracket hole attaches to the truck body. The direction says to use a 9/64 drill bit for the screw hole. I used a 1/8 drill bit which worked fine.
