Review on Walmart by Praise Olagbadun
Reviewing WalMart!!
AAs one reads Success stories, we would get to discover that big companies started as little ones, which we now call start ups. Just as the popular saying which goes thus: "Rome wasn't built in a day" that's exactly how it is for the great Retail store we know and use today, WalMart.
The Walmart we know today wasn't the Walmart some people knew about 59 years ago. I would be reviewing WalMart today in this review, talking about their History, Success stories and achievements. Starting with their history: WalMart started its journey with a young man named Sam Walton. He was a man that was driven by the passion to solve some immediate needs and thought of Walmart as a solution to one of the many problems people faced that time. Sam Walton started by opening a little store which He called Walton 5&10 in the year 1950 and seeing how good he was at what he did, he took the step of coming up with the first WalMart store in Arkansas in the years 1962. This is to say Walmart has been in existence for close to 60 years now 🤭🤭
The story doesn't just stop there as it is usually said that "Attaining Success is quite easier than retaining it." They had to keep the fire burning as starting alone doesn't guarantee their success. Sam Walton started making some expansions and in 1967, that is 5 years later, they were able to open 24 stores which functions actively. That didn't just stop there as today, they have their stores in other countries like China, Canada and some other places, stopping there would be a limitation to them, I guess. So they have also been able to make online shopping available to their customers. As a matter of fact, I have even placed and order online using their platform.
A thing I really love about WalMart is the fact that they have been running with a goal ever since its creation in 1962, this goal happens to be "saving people's money so they can live better." This happens to be proven by how affordable their products are (this was displayed in the product I purchased from them as it was quite more expensive in some other online shopping platforms whose names I won't mention). Affordable price isn't the only thing they have to offer their customers, another thing happens to be that attentive spirit. WalMart happens to have one of the best customer support I've ever contacted when doing some online shopping. At a point when my product was taking time to arrive, I had to contact their support team and their response was one of the best I have ever received. She assured me that on a specific day, my product would arrive and true to her words it did. At first, I never expected her to reply me well because I was really angry and was a bit harsh. Not minding this, her response was quite soothing and I even had to apologize at the end of it all.
As a means of running to a conclusion in this review, I would want to talk about some things WalMart would need to work on, although all these things haven't been proven to me as I am yet to confirm it. The first one is their store, that is, their physical store and not the online store. There have been numerous complaints from people about how few the number of workers (that is people that respond to customers on the counter) are. I haven't checked it out as I am yet to get to any WalMart store and we are not having any in Nigeria. These people went further to say the fact that the workers are not much makes them wait on a queue for a while and waste some time. Addressing this situation would be very nice. I guess that's all I have for the Walmart review.
Pros
- It has been in existence for close to 60 years, leaving with enough wealth of experience
- The founder, Sam Walton, had a good intention
- Not minding how small they started, they pushed further and are now one of the most popular in the industry
- They have been able to meet up to their goal, making goods affordable for users, as displayed by the product (Ear pod) I purchased from them
- They have their stores both physically and online
Cons
- There have been complaints of few workers on the counter. I'm not too sure about this as I have only used their online platform, which I really enjoyed. I would encourage them to work on that, if true
