Crochet Warning: Knitting & Crocheting

I actually really like this yarn for the most part - I'm the marzipan color and it's lovely and it's also very soft and true to life. Caliber - but due to the way it's made, the softness/fluffiness completely flakes off the raw ends and just releases the thread, so you're not hanging yarn from the work or making something like a tassel outside of it be able. If you sew the ends into the work with a tapestry needle, the eye of the needle will pull at the lint as you pull and the lint will bunch up, creating another bald spot. The same thing happens when you make a magic circle to start crocheting in a circle - when you pull on the end of the yarn to compress the circle, the fluff wants to pucker in places and shed the free end, which you don't want it to do to pull. tight, causing the circle to loosen as you work with it. I've been crocheting this crochet for a few days now and it has served my purpose well and looks beautiful, but I haven't had to pull up a single stitch (yet) and I'm afraid if I do it will be very difficult to reuse any length, which had to be pulled out. To be honest I'll probably buy this yarn again because I like the feel of it and the color isn't available in other yarns of this type, but if color isn't an issue then I'll probably buy Bernat Velor instead I don't have much of the same problem with wrinkling/flaking or bald spots.

Pros
  • Consistent in testing
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer pattern
