Review on microSHIFT 3X7 Speed Black Twist Grip Shift Gear Shifters - Shimano Bicycle Compatible by James Womble

Important installation detail

I replaced a broken left shifter that controls the derailleur. The shifter stopped working because it took too much effort to turn the shifter. Although the switch is ok. As I attached the new cable to the lag bolt that holds it to the derailleur, I routed the new cable BETWEEN the lag bolt and the little "ear" next to it on the same lever. The cable had to run BACK and behind the ear before the cable went down. When the cable is installed correctly, there is more leverage, making it easier to turn the shifter. Under no circumstances should you try to force the switch to turn as you may damage the small plastic part inside. The picture shows a replacement wheel with the small ear to the right of the lag bolt and the cable running next to and behind it. The new clutch shifters are as good as the original ones on my 2001 Walmart Next 21 speed bike with FD-TY30 and RD-TX31 6/7 shifters. All of these switches are difficult to turn when your hands are sweaty or wet from the rain. I want them to be square instead of round.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks
