Maybe I just misunderstood?

These derailleurs look exactly like the ones on my son's bike and replacing them was a fairly easy job. Unfortunately the quality wasn't excellent. The 3rd gear shifter works well but there are problems with the 7th gear. It gets stuck between a few gears and has to be twisted very hard to change it, and sometimes it doesn't click at all between some gears. I noticed these issues before installing it on my son's bike, but I was hoping that once they started appearing, it would magically fix…

Slightly below expectations

These are absolutely useful replacement derailleurs for many 21-speed road bikes and mountain bikes. I used them to replace some SRAM MRX Comp shifters on a 2005 Giant Cypress LX. The old derailleurs were hard to turn and the cables had to be replaced and it was only a little more money than new cables without all the hard work of taking apart the derailleurs to replace the cables and lube the derailleurs. After making the necessary adjustments (see Video Park Tools on YouTube), shifting was…

Update, both sides are broken now, poor quality product

I asked a professional bike mechanic to install this. The left side where you have high low gears 1, 2 and 3 does not shift. On the other side on the right, gears 1-7 shift easily. He could get my bike to work by holding the left downshift on 2, he could barely get it to turn around to shift. (That was after fiddling with it for over an hour to get everything working) I told him it was good enough as long as the other side worked and it was a gear I could handle but I didn't know how to return…

Perfect replacement for the complicated shifters on your child's bike

As a parent of three children I've had the pleasure of dealing with the terrible 7 speed Revo shifters that come with every brand name bike. The shifters are so easy to use that I struggle with them as an adult and 6 year olds only dream of what other gear might look like. When playing with thumb switches, small thumbs didn't do well with low power and the hassle of needing wider grips. I tried them out for fun as I have a few sets of their much more expensive road derailleurs and have always…

Inexpensive all-rounder

All in all a great price item. Bought for a 16 year old bike, my main gears 1,2,3 wouldn't shift anymore, the cable was rusted in one of the brackets. Bought to replace them, my gears 1-7 all worked but the numbers were erased so I went ahead and changed those too. Installation only took about 5 minutes per gear selector. I found the installation very easy. I didn't need a youtube video to show me how to do it and it was my first experience on the bike aside from changing bike tubes. The reason

Ok but shifting is NOT easier than Shimano Revoshift

Purchased to replace the left derailleur on my 10 year old daughter's bike. It was a cheap Shimano Revoshift friction type that made it almost impossible to work with due to the torque required to shift. Despite the reviews for this product, it's not much easier to operate, if at all (at least for the left - we haven't tried the right). The GOOD news is that this is actually a better product than Revoshift. Apparently, with a small twist of the tension adjustment we were able to get the indexed

Important installation detail

I replaced a broken left shifter that controls the derailleur. The shifter stopped working because it took too much effort to turn the shifter. Although the switch is ok. As I attached the new cable to the lag bolt that holds it to the derailleur, I routed the new cable BETWEEN the lag bolt and the little "ear" next to it on the same lever. The cable had to run BACK and behind the ear before the cable went down. When the cable is installed correctly, there is more leverage, making it easier to…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks

The perfect replacement.

I was restoring a 2003 GT Palomar and found that the rear derailleur cable was rubbing back into the cable housing. When I was looking for a cable I found that (if you could find a cable) it was sold for a pack of 6 or 10 (which I didn't want or need). I started searching out of frustration. for shifters and these popped out. Replacement switches with cords are a few bucks more expensive than a couple of cords I don't need. The job is done. Worst case scenario, if these switches don't work, I…
