All in all a great price item. Bought for a 16 year old bike, my main gears 1,2,3 wouldn't shift anymore, the cable was rusted in one of the brackets. It was a cheap Shimano Revoshift friction type that made it almost impossible to work with due to the torque required to shift. I replaced a broken left shifter that controls the derailleur. The shifter stopped working because it took too much effort to turn the shifter. Although the switch is ok. As I attached the new cable to the lag bolt that holds it to the derailleur, I routed the new cable BETWEEN the lag bolt and the little "ear" next to it on the same lever.
