I actually use this in my guinea pig cage with the pee pads on the bottom. This will prevent their feet from hurting themselves on the hard bottom of the tray. I bought 2 more to keep her floor dry and odor free. I wash the rug in the washing machine on the normal cycle with warm water. I also dried it in the dryer. I have a pot in the cage for her poop, but she pees everywhere. It's perfect for keeping them clean and dry. I also have one in a tank with bearded dragons with its rocks on top, it keeps it from slipping when it jumps off the hammock onto the rocks.
