That was the right device for my 2008 Silverado. Very easy to install, comes with instructions and online video instructions are also available. The overall finish is near perfect, but the handle sticks out about 2 or 3 millimeters more than it did before the lock was installed. I tried tweaking it a bit to get rid of that but I couldn't either. I don't mind. I had an ARE truck cover installed and needed a way to latch the tailgate as well as the cover. It does its job very well and is again very easy to install. I would say less than 10 minutes and you're done because I read the instructions before the shipment arrived. Don't worry about another review saying you need a vise. No vise, just some hex wrenches (for a 6-32 bolt) and a set of sockets (an adjustable wrench will do in place of a set of sockets).
