Because of the price I give 5 stars. Of course there are better Forstner bits on the market, but they are significantly more expensive. These bits work great for drilling smooth holes. I think the real question is how many smooth holes can they cut. I can't answer that question right now, but I've used 1" and 1-1/8" many times with great results. I usually use them on my lathe and when needed on my drill press. Most of the wood I drill with the Forester bit is hardwood, so it's been put to the test. They cut well and pick up chips well. I just take my time and take the bit back a few times to cool everything and clean the hole and the bits won't have a problem.
