Review on πŸ’‘ PowerBright Vc-2000J Transformer Step up/Down 2000 Watt Japan 100 or 20 Volt - Efficient Power Conversion Device by David Banks

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Still works great after 2 years

I bought it to use the DJ equipment I bought in West Japan (100V 60Hz) in the US (120V 60Hz): CDJ , mixer and EFX processor. It's probably less than 500 watts total, but it's expensive gear so I wanted to play it safe and get a high-performance model. I turn it off when I don't use it, but after 2 years everything works fine. I like that it's all metal and very durable. I'm planning to go back to Japan in a few months and will definitely take it with me. I can reverse it and hope it saves me some money by allowing me to use an IH rice cooker I bought in the US (Zojirushi, $350) from Japan. This is a 1500+ watt device, but I expect it to be able to handle it. The only thing I'm not sure about is that if I'm in the 50Hz zone (Eastern Japan) I might need an additional 60>50Hz transformer (some devices use both). If you're moving between the US and Japan and don't need to buy expensive electronics, buy one of these! The only thing I should mention is that it weighs a ton so consider packing it in your moving boxes rather than shipping it separately.

Pros
  • One year trial period
Cons
  • Poorly thought out
