Factory installed. The same applies to 4.8, 5.3, 6.0 GM LS engines. Rebuild block from local parts store? No thank you. I pulled the starter motor out of my race car pickup to install it. It was a reman starter. My cartridge is an 06 2500hd and it just broke. Put simply. After 210,000 miles, the starter I removed was rebuilt at a local auto parts store. The extended starter would freeze, then turn on and take a hard hit against the metal. Oh my flywheel! New AcDelco starter? $130 or so. My racing car handles the ICT Billet starter with ease. Brand new for $140. This is a brand new starter for around $68. Where are they all made? Same place. Off the coast of China? More and more Mexico, no matter who the seller buys from. I installed this launcher tonight and all problems were solved. Starts faster than I ever thought this engine would start with the cheapest 6.0 Vortec Walmart 500 CCA battery with 210 miles at 10,000 feet at 10 deg f. Let's see the years and mileage go by. damn good starter.
