This hinge is easy to assemble. He does what he has to do. When the outhouse is lowered, the rain runs past the knee into the outhouse and moves further away from the house. The only way to screw this up is if the extension is too flat when deployed. On a gutter I had to remove a knee, cut off an inch of the gutter and then reattach it. This gave the extension enough tilt to work properly. Folding the extension was super easy. My Cape Cod location gets some severe NE storms, so I installed a rock on either side of the outlet end of the extension to secure it during the storm. This wind on a two-meter piece of aluminum creates a lot of torque at the joint. In my opinion, the hinge is not designed for such extreme stress. Some planning is better. Being able to easily fold the extension for five minutes of mowing is a good thing. In the UP position, the handset is anti-collision.
