Assembly problems

The hinge is made of very thin sheet metal and is therefore a bit wobbly. Installing the hinges on my downspouts took a lot longer than the video shows. The video shows the installation in an ideal world. The angle of the downspout end, the height of the downspout from the ground and the length of the extension are factors that will determine the installation. I had to trim the length of the downspout and cut the angle of the downspout elbow and try a few times before getting the downspout…

Works Great - Canopy

This hinge is easy to assemble. He does what he has to do. When the outhouse is lowered, the rain runs past the knee into the outhouse and moves further away from the house. The only way to screw this up is if the extension is too flat when deployed. On a gutter I had to remove a knee, cut off an inch of the gutter and then reattach it. This gave the extension enough tilt to work properly. Folding the extension was super easy. My Cape Cod location gets some severe NE storms, so I installed a…

Carriage Bolts = Peace of Mind

I have some gnarled old drainpipes that have seen quite a bit of wind and abuse over the years. I kept them attached and out of the neighbor's yard with a single sheet metal screw through the top. It worked but was a bit painful to remove for mowing. So I decided to try these loops. Even with my somewhat crooked curves and spouts, there were no surprises during installation. Hinges are easy to install; I just had to bend the drain pipe back a bit to give it a sort of square shape. But I was…

A good product. Plan your project. Command

Good idea. "Loops" are roughly ironed and tied. Half of the sets in my multipack required lubrication and massage to loosen them. I can guarantee a roughly pressed hinge will not outlast my gardeners. I'm glad I ordered a few extras. I will reinforce the stamped hinges with stainless steel hardware as suggested in another review. Also, my drain pipe extensions run six feet from the house. I found it necessary to trim the drain pipe running down the house so the zipper loop would stretch fully…

Great idea but takes hours not minutes

I am usually very good at learning things but it seemed so simple and obvious that it was an elbow with a hinged 'thing' that you were using a low point and an extended gutter connect from the house. NO. It's just "gear" to MAKE an articulated knee. So add a few hours to the home business to get new elbows and a longer spout. Had to get a miter saw, cut the length and then cut at a 45 degree angle (use the correct blade in the saw). First I tried to crack the saw. Forget it! Even after using a…

Best solution I found

Best solution I found for gutter extension. These two-piece hinges were easy to install. Be sure to watch the video on their website as the written instructions are not very clear. The video says it all! The first gutter took me 30 minutes as I was very careful with the installation and assembly. After that, the next five downpipes each took about five minutes. An aluminum gutter is recommended for extensions, but I've used a vinyl gutter and it worked well, the included zip screws went through

Great kit with everything you need and a driver!

Great idea! My three local big box stores didn't have extension hoses, and I didn't want to carry them around to eat/cut weed. It's awesome! I used a Montalvo cut-off wheel (caution if you use a grinder and a cut-off wheel, use safety gloves, goggles and a face shield (you can rent a grinder or borrow a friend and buy a wheel at a hardware store)) and a Grinding machine to make cuts in gutter extensions. I went to a gutter company and they cut me 4 foot pieces of downspout. I just measured the…
