Only the 4 largest drill bits in this DD5160 set are made in one piece as shown in the picture and listed in the description at the time of my purchase. And it seems to have earned 5 star reviews. The remaining bits in the set consist of two parts. The bits in this set actually have 3 different base designs as you can see in my photo. If you go to the Dewalt website and find this model you won't see a picture and say almost nothing about the bits themselves - just great design. from the plastic sleeve they are in. I think this lack of information and forwarding indicates how often Dewalt changes tools without changing model numbers. Why should they when this model has excellent reviews. And you can bet that every change made to a product is due to it being made cheaper in some way. Design, materials, manufacturing process and labor are getting cheaper, but the price stays the same. It seems to be a common practice among manufacturers. They need to be accountable and ensure their retailers are informed and product descriptions up to date pending the sale of the updated items. like a locksmith and with drilling tools, an exorbitant price due to the fact that the body is yellow and black or because they are made in China. They are titanium coated and cut through regular steel quite well. Full titanium bits twist and snap in half easily, which is why you don't see full titanium tools by the way. Two-piece bits are welded or brazed to the collet/base, so they're likely to turn less than crimped bits, which are about 1/3 the cost. The smaller bits in this set are not pilot bits, just normal bits. These bits are not suitable for cement/concrete as these materials require bits specifically designed for this purpose. Cement drills have no sharp edges and have a chisel point. For hardened steel, cobalt bits are a better choice than these.
