Review on ๐Ÿšฒ KOOTU Universal Road Bike Pedals: Platform & Clipless Pedals for Road, Spin, MTB & Indoor Bikes (9/16") by Chad Dahl

75 miles and stock still too tight

I have no problem with the weight of these pedals (135g each) or the cleat mechanism (stiff but not intrusive). However, I'm disappointed that they don't spin freely. The bearings have no noticeable play (which is good) but they are too tight. As a result, the pedals stay virtually where they were when you released them, rather than gravity returning them to the front-of-the-pedal-up position. Since I don't know which direction the pedal is pointing, I often have to look down when engaging the clutch, which is a problem when starting at traffic lights. I would expect cold weather to increase the viscosity of the grease and I would expect them to become less elastic over time. I mounted them on the bike I ride in winter and overall I'm happy with them. They are definitely worth what I paid.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Good but not great
